Ot Issue with imaging hd to a larger hd same MB and peripherss

Hi all,

I currently have a PC which is connected to 2003 AD /domain.
If I was to transfer the installed copy of windows XP via an image copying program, to a larger hd , would there be any issues using this drive instead of the original one.
We woulld not be changing any of the other hardware in the box.

My colleuge thought that there may be an issue with Guids ?
Are there correct and if so Could I use a program like newsid.exe to fix this issue ?

ThanKs

In my experience, this works flawlessly. You don’t need newsid.exe in
this case. I have had a few problems taking an XP disk and moving it to
new hardware, but not with the case you’re talking about.

With xp/2k3 this should work fine. With Vista and beyond, the bootloader won’t recognize the hard drive and you have to run through setup repair to get the system to boot.
