This is unfortunately a very open-ended question. The basic answer is that
electrically, the solution can be different in virtually every PC. The days
of a simple 8086 and ISA bus connection, when all PCs were basically the
same, is long gone. It is now dependent on the chip set(s) the designer
selects for any given implementation.

Even logically things can be very different. If a standard keyboard is
used, it probably talks to a standard keyboard controller, but maybe not.
This might talk to an ISA-PCI bridge to get closer to the processor. Or
some other way. The PCI bus could be connected to the processor bus by a
fairly simple bridge. Or by a more complex bridge to an intermediate bus,
and then that bus connected in some manner to one or more processors.
Memory might be on the direct processor busses. Or the intermediate bus.
Or both.

And so on…

And all of this affects the device tree and bus driver structure that will
eventually appear inside NT.
