Open by File ID and Replace

Is the open by file ID possible for opening the file only, or also
to do replace (overwrite or supersede)?
I’d reckon not, but just to make sure.

It is possible to open directories as well.
To overwrite and supersede is also possible.

I have tested this on Windows 2000 only,
so I am not sure about NT and XP.
