I think:

  1. If they can, you device must be comply with some spec Microsoft
    defined, just like “video class” device. What’s spec? I don’t know. You
    may check it on Microsoft web site.
  2. It’s just as you wish. If you want to add some fancy functions for your
    device, you can do it.
