no serial port problem

Hi.

My target machone hasn’t any serial and 1394 ports. Is there any way to set
up a debugger in different way. Something like USB to COM mapper devices. Or
else?

Thanx in advance.

USB based COM ports don’t work. Do you have any expansion slots in this
device? You could plug in a serial or 1394 pcmcia or pci adapter to one of
these…

If your host is the USB side you can run that to a USB to serial converter
and then connect the resulting serial output from the converter to the
target. Unfortunately at this time a target without a serial port is a
problem. The target must have a hard serial port as USB to Serial will not
work.

Some legacy free machines like some models of the Compaq iPaq desktop had a serial header on the motherboard even though no port was exposed on the case.

You might check your motherboard for such a header.

Or better yet, why don’t you buy a cheap 1394 card and use that? You should be able to get one for about $20.
