Does anybody know where to get NewDisp.exe. Which is referred in Microsoft
DDK.
This utility can be used to load Display Drivers without having to restart.

Too bad you seem to be using a very old DDK doc. The only instance of that
utility I see is in the Windows 2000 DDK.

I don’t know where to find it now but it’s very easy
to write your own.
You write a little program that calls
ChangeDisplaySettings(Ex) to switch to VGA mode, such
as 640X480X4bpp, the the display driver should unload
and system switches to the VGA driver. Once you
replaced your new display driver, call
ChangeDisplaySettings(Ex) to set to an accelerated
mode, this should load the display driver.
Note that before switching to VGA mode, leave the
primary display active only (detach any non-primary
desktop(s) if any). This is to to make sure you have
only one display driver instance or rendering surface.
Also note that you can NOT replace miniport driver in
this way. MINIPORT driver can’t unload without reboot
until wlh.
