New to WDK and WFP

Hi,

I want to develop Windows Driver using WFP to filter single IP. I am new to this but want to write this driver soon and facing few difficulties. I have installed Windows WDK kit, Do I need to install Windows SDK kit too?

I am using Windows7 WDK Build utility + make file + source file. Is it possible using visual studio 2010, if yes could you provide me steps for same. Also could you proved me sample source file to build same.

Thanks in anticipation.

Have you determined that you absolutely, without any question, must have a kernel WFP driver? WFP can be used either in a service or an application, and with very very few exceptions, can do everything that can be done in the kernel. Not to mention that development time is greatly improved if you keep things out of the kernel, nor do you have to worry about an erogenous packet crashing the system because of an errant pointer you failed to handle properly in the kernel.

  1. You can use 2010 or any other VS version
  2. No, you doesn’t need the Windows SDK for WDK for Win 7. If You use the 2012 VS, the WDK 2012 will be integrated with it, but in must be installed separatelly

Step-by-step tuning the VS was described on osronline. Please, see such link http://www.osronline.com/article.cfm?article=43
BTW, you can serch on google for you issues resolving.
