TOASTER in the DDK, and the GENERIC.SYS support library in my WDM book
are the ones I would recommend. I can say that GENERIC’s power handler
does work with real hardware on a variety of OS and hardware platforms,
and does support system wakeup and idle management in all the situations
covered by my book samples. Since TOASTER doesn’t have real hardware,
it’s only been bench tested AFAIK. In addition, by design it doesn’t run
in 98/Me systems.
