Lanman Redirector Filter Driver

Hi,

We are trying to write a Filter Driver that sits on top of the Lanman
Redirector, we are trying to restrict access to files over a network
connection, we are hopefully going to place some extra security information in
the files that exist on the server share. Then when the Logged in User tries
to open a file, the filter driver will check to see if the person has the
correct security to open the file. The problem we are having is that we are
seeing requests for \IPC$. Under our current schema we will try
and check the access on this File Object, unable to find any and denied access.
Is this going to cause problems, or how can we allow this request through
with out trying to check it’s security.

Since you’re restricting access to files, you don’t have to worry about
restricting access to \IPC$ because it’s a share.

Just filter the “filename”.
IPC$ cannot be used by any other share.
