Those who has her/his rader on the ntfsd list must have seen Bob is
about retire, and handing over those lists to OSR. I was intially
thinking to say “Thank you Bob, I will, at least never forget you …”.
Remember those days xxxxx@atria.***, from around that time I have
been a subsriber…
Initially, when NT kernel programming was very new to me I had questions
like the following -
- God I hate the Windbg, I can’t even connect two machines. OS/2 debug
kernel was better. Well some one left a configuration for me on my desk,
and I did not have to worry about it. Here I need to worry.
Ans: Some heavy weight came (on the list) and said, are you sure you
have the baud rate set correct. Do you have a spare null cable, in case
the one you are trying is not working. Can you have another machine to
swap with, also can you reverse the order between dev and target
machine(s), … Some such responses, and I was crusing after couple
try.
- Man I don’t know what to do with this new Windbg version, it simple
does not work, and I hesitate to test any beta version, so this is just
a new version released from MS, and I installed over my working and old
version ?
Ans: Some one yet again came and said, well I can send you an old one
from MS server, that I know for sure works
- And there are plenty others, some even willing to see just couple
routines, and stack trace to debug
[…]
And by observing and learning, I could very well be gainfully employed
in the NT kernel-mode development area.
Finally there were lot of rants, about so many things…
I’M SURE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE LEARNT THAT WAY. And behind all of these
Bob had an enormous contribution to keep the baby ticking/kicking. The
babies are ntdev and ntfsd.
Since it is being used by hackers from around the world, I wish I knew
all the languages for saying Thank you to Bob…
Thank you Bob
