Hi all,
When I open a *.txt/*.doc file on W2K,
I can’t recognize any IRP_MJ_READ calls, using the
filemonitor. How come ?
thanks,
Amir

If your using FILEMON (sysinternals - I’m assuming that’s what you mean
by filemonitor) make sure that you’re not filtering out your read’s from the
display (is ‘log reads’ checked, etc). Are you seeing paging io reads
backed by your file? Are you opening the same small file repeatedly (in
which case you might not see a conventional IRP_MJ_READ except on the first
time - and then it may be paging io)? Try opening a fairly large .txt file
with notepad. Be sure it is the first time you’ve opened that file. Do you
see any paging reads backed by the file?
