I have been searching for documentation on IoCreateStreamFileObject. Till
now the only place that has some information on this call, seems to be
Rajeev Nagar’s book. Is it only used for the metadata streams associated
with a file or can it be used for the main data stream of the file? My
filter is only concerned with the main file or not with any named/ unnamed
streams associated with file. Please let me know if this function can be
used for creating an FO for the main file and also any pointers to the
documentation would be welcome.
It’s documented in the XP IFS kit and yes, I’ve seen stream FO’s created
for the main data stream of a file, so you can’t avoid them. NTFS
sometimes sends them down with paging I/O reads/writes.
