That would be worth a patent, wouldn`t it ?
The point that I tried to make is that, on a 64MB system, the most
NonPagedPool memory I can get right now is 4MB. This seems low since NT is
running on a basic devices/service configuration. Locking physical memory
is not a major issue in this case because we it is a dedicated acquisition
system.
So, I am inquiring the gurus out there on the possible methods available to
increase the available size of NonPagedPool mem, on NT4 and W2K.
Thanks,
Alain

Q126402 is correct about the method but I’m curious about how you expect to
get “64MB or more” of non-pageable memory on any operating system running on
a 64MB platform.

Subject: [ntdev] increasing the size of available NonPagedPool memory
Is it possible to control the NonPagedPool memory size on a NT/Win2K box ?
My driver, which is used for a dedicated application, requires
64MB or more
of non-paged pool memory. However, on a 64MB system, the most that can be
successfully allocated is around 4MB (with other devices running). The
driver is manually loaded after user logs in.
I`ve seen an MSDN article (Q126402) on this topic but the solution
(modifying some registry values located under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management)
seem to involve some risks of getting an unbootable system.
Can anyone comment on the above method ? Other ideas on how to increase
NonPagedPool memory size ?
Thanks,
Alain
