Hello
I am not able to delete the keys that are created in the registry using
regedit.exe or regedt32.exe programs. I am using Windows 2000 Professional
edition . It gives me an error saying that cannot delete the key . And also
says Access is Denied . I even tried as an Administrator and had the same
problem . Anybody has any idea how to over come this problem ?
Thanks and regards

Use regedit32. Select the key to delete. Then select the Security menu item.
Check the box that allows full control and apply it. You should then be able
to delete the key.
You may need to be running as Administrator to do this.

use Regedt32.exe and Set permission for “Full control” and try to delete.

I’ve found that one can use regedt32 to change the security settings of the
keys, then delete the keys. Being administrator in itself doesn’t confer
authority to delete but can change the authority needed to delete.

Have you checked the security permissions for the key (only regedt32
supports changing security permissions)
