how much conventional memory is needed by win xp and 2k in real mode

I know this may not be the right place to ask but I am unable to find this
information on the Internet so would like to try my luck here.
Maybe someone knows something about it.

I am writing some real mode codes for win xp and 2k.
I would like to know how much memory (conventional memory) is needed by the
OS win xp and 2k in real mode?
Does XP uses all the 640K of memory?
How much is avaliable for us?
can we use upper memory?
how much is avaliable?
how can we load our code there and start execution?

Hope someone can help.

Thank You very much!

cheers,
vincent

2K and XP does not use real mode. At all. I don’t think you can even switch to
real mode from these OSes.

Also - forget the term “conventional memory”. MS-DOS is dead for years.
