How do i access NTDEV using Outlook Express.

I am trying to configure Outlook Express to read ntdev postings. In the
archive i saw postings by Peter Viscarola and Dave Harvey regarding this. I
am missing the newsgroup name. I do not see any newsgroup names that contain
ntdev.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Srin.

You need to setup a new news server. In Outlook Express goto Tools|Accounts
and then click on Add and add a news server. The news server’s name is
lists.osr.com. But, I believe you will have to become a member of NTDEV
before you can post. You can do this at www.osr.com/lists. Email me if you
have any problems.

As Bill said, it’s a PRIVATE newsgroup. Anyone can read, but only members
can post. Thus, you point your newsreader at lists.osr.com. You’ll see
“ntdev” and “ntfsd” listed as available news groups.

Note that the only trick to getting posting to work is that you must specify
your actual and correct email address, as seen by Lyris. So, for example,
if you indicate your email address is xxxxx@osr.com, but your return email
address actually reads xxxxx@engineering.osr.com Lyris will refuse your
postings, believing you not to be a member of the group. This is true even
if xxxxx@osr.com “works” as one of your email addresses. Again, to
re-emphasize, any posts must come from the exact same email address with
which you joined the list. We realize this feature can be annoying to some
people in big companies, whose specific email addresses can change without
their knowledge. But it’s either that or let any pervert post to the
list…
