Hi.
I have checked version of W2K. But it’s too slow to bear. ^^;
So I want to run free version of W2k with some checked driver that involved
with my work - my own scsi miniport driver and scsiport.sys.
I try to copy scsiport.sys(checked version) to winnt/system32/drivers
directory.
It seems done. But After few second, W2k replace that file to old one.
I think it’s protection of W2k.
How can I replace scsiport.sys that protected by OS.
thanks.

It’s better if you can create your own service, with a different name, and
make it load instead of SCSIPORT. However, I am not sure how to do that, as
I only have done a miniport so far. I think the process is the same as
installing a miniport, only the registry settings would be a little
different, and probably not that different.
However, that doesn’t answer your immediate question. If you boot into the
repair console, you can rename scsiport.sys, then copy your own driver over
it. My experience, when I was replacing atapi.sys, was that system file
protection didn’t get in my way.

Or just disable system file protection. You can use the osr utility that
knows about the secret bits for making it permanent. Negative nine dog.
