how can i read user-mode file in kernel mode?

hi, everyone
i want to do download firmware operation in my minidriver. can i read
firmware content from a common user-mode file? if yes, how can i do it?
esp. how can i use the directory?

Look at ZwCreateFile/ZwOpenFile, ZwReadFile, ZwClose. You need to make
these calls from passive level.

There is no such thing as “user-mode file”. Files are accessible from
both user and kernel mode.
If your driver is not of a boot start type - then you can ZwReadFile
the firmware from the file on the SystemRoot volume and download to
your driver.
