Hi,
I am a new member to this group and also a beginner in this area.I want to
develop an application which hides as well as locks with password folders
and files on local machine and also on the network. So I want to develop
File System filter driver for that.
Is IFS kit necessay for doing it.
Also plz tell me if there is any sample code or reference material
available for this.

Thanks & Regards
Gaurav

Yes you will need the IFS kit. There is a new filter model available in the
current beta kit that will make things easier. You should seriously
consider taking a course on the subject from OSR see
http://www.osr.com/seminars_dfsw2_5dl.shtml If you can afford it consider
getting the File Systems Filter Driver Kit from OSR
http://www.osr.com/toolkits_fddk.shtml this is pricy but may give you much
of what you need.

Hi,

Reading Rajeev Nagar’s book on File System Internals would be a very good start to understanding the world of Windows NT kernal, filtering and file system internals.
