Hi,
I just installed HCT 12.1 on my test PC (only installed Driver Qualify). I
seem to have a problem to start Windows if the kernel debugger is enabled.
It was ok to start Windows without the kernel debug option. I have driver
verifier with all options except the low resource simulation enabled for my
driver too. I have repeated this for several times. It seems to be
persistent on my system.
I am using Windows XP SP2. Does anyone see the similar problem too?

Has the kernel debugger EVER worked for you? Are you using serial or
Firewire?
Here’s a caution, too. If you use Firewire for kernel debugging with
HCT, once you start with kd connected, you must run with kd connected
each and every time. The kernel debugger causes the Firewire controller
to show up as disabled, and HCT checkes that no device changes state
during a test run. Further, the Firewire disabled state will cause
several of the HCT tests to fail. The failures are ignorable, but annoying.

Tim:
The kernel debugger works all the time even when HCT is installed. The
problem is that Windows is not going to boot up even though I can see
messages shown in WinDbg.
The message shows it stops after this:
SMBios: AddDevice …
I am using serial connection for the kernel debugger. If I uninstall HCT
12.1, I can restart Windows with kernel debugger easily.
Thanks,
zhongsheng
