The FilterManager is for Windows XP and Windows 2003 only.
So the minifilter work with only two OS.

I believe that MS are intending to back port the filter manager for
Windows 2000 but last I heard, there were no dates for this.

According to the beta mailing list, the roll-up that includes this is at
release candidate stage and will be fully released at the end of this month.
There was mention at the last plugfest of it including a redistributable
also.

Solomon,

The minifilter model is supported on the following OS versions:

  • W2K SP4 + URP (to be released very soon)
  • XP SP2 and later
  • Srv03 SP1 and later
  • Longhorn

It is not supported on NT4 and there are no plans to add support for NT4
