Is there any link to download the archives of this list, besides viewing
them online ? I wish to experiment with a FS filter driver that can modify
user buffers after reads and before writes (the usual compression/encryption
kind of thing). It would be great to see old posts since I can’t seem to get
much from samples and documentation in the IFS kit.
Also is Rajeev Nagar’s book still the authoritative work, with all of the
changes in Win2k and WinXP etc. ?
Thanks,
Aks
Archives of the list are available from ftp.ntdev.org. All years are
available. It also has the ntdev mailing list archive which could be worth
a download as well.

In addition to the archives at ntfsd.org, you can get every message since
the list moved to OSR by pointing any newreader at lists.osr.com. IIRC,
that’s every message since the beginning of 2000. Same goes for ntdev.

Thanks, got the archives. But any suggestion on how I should browse through
them. I’m not being able to import / read them in any way through OE.
Neither through tools like Newsgroup Explorer/Commander. I coudn’t import it
in Mozilla either. Whats the best way of viewing them thread-wise ?

The best way to search the archives is via the web interface at
http://www.osr.com/search_main.shtml.

This one uses the Google search engine. It’s fast and
it works right, but it is only indexed every so often
and therefore isn’t always right up to date.

You probably also want to have a look at the FS FAQ on
http://www.osronline.com - check the file systems section. I believe it
answers the question about Rajeev’s book (It’s good background, but it is
not entirely up to date, obviously).

Thanx. I finally just cat’d all the message files together and hypermail’d
them. Decently indexed for now. For searching i guess i’ll still use the
online version.
Thanks again.

You cannot modify the user buffer on write. Just image how the app
will be confused, if the data it have passed to write() was updated by
write().
