from \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\PhysicalDmVolumes\BlockVolume1 to C: not in a filter driver

Hello,

My kernel mode driver does not have any information about volume device
objects. It is not a file system filter. How can I get a volume’s DOS drive
name either in kernel mode or user mode from its physical name?

Thanks,

Shangwu

The first thing you should do is learn not to cross-post messages on NTDEV and NTFSD.

I guess it’s easier to just ask a question rather than to (a) read the archives, (b) read the FAQ, and observe standard Netiquette, huh?

How do you know everyone is subscribing both news groups?

I searched ORS servers. I found that your search engine is not smart like
google. If I type “convert \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes to drive letter” on
your search page, nothing is returned on any group. But google can list out
many sites related to the question even though they are not exactly
answering the question.

You don’t care who is subscribing to what group. One group is for file
systems and the other is not. If your question is about file systems that
is the group to use and if not use the other group.
