Filter Manager on Windows 2000

I was wondering when the filter manager support for Windows 2000 will be
available in the beta IFS Kit. After the holidays I am to port one of our
products to the legacy filter model if support for the filter manager on
Windows 2000 is not available.

I have already ported this product from (gasp!) a hook driver to a
minifilter. It took me 1.5 days to convert the driver to a minifilter. I
have been singing praises about the minifilter model to my bosses and
finally convinced them that we don’t need to hook the os anymore. I would
rather continue with the minifilter model, but I will need to have the
windows 2000 filter manager support in my hands or the bosses will can the
project.

Jon,

Microsoft is planning on releasing the W2K version in January on BetaPlace.
This is what we were told at Plugfest earlier this month. The W2K filter
manager was used at Plugfest and several of us had the opportunity to get
the build working then test on W2K. So it looks like a beta release in
January can be counted on.

This is filter managers W2K release story:

As you have probably heard Microsoft is going to release a “Security
Rollup Patch” for W2K SP4
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/evaluation/news/bulletins/r
ollup.asp). The Filter manager is going to be a part of the SRP
release.
The beta for the SRP will start in mid January (very soon).

Do the following to signup for the SRP beta:

Go to: http://beta.microsoft.com
Guest ID: Win2kURPTest (this is case sensitive)

The SRP is scheduled for release in Q2 2005.
