File name in Rename operation

Is it normal to get PFILE_RENAME_INFORMATION->File name in the format
??\Volume{ ----- GUID ----}\Foo\Bar. This seems to be path of a mount
point. There is no mount point in the system per se. I was reading the
OSR article about cracking rename operation
(http://www.osr.com/ntinsider/1997/rename.htm). It does talk about FQ
dir name. It talks about getting \DosDevices.… but not the format that
I am seeing.

Thanks
NK

The article on rename is actually quite old at this point, and the
Volume GUID syntax antedates it (mental note: one more thing to do in my
spare time.) However, as Molly Brown pointed out earlier this week, the
name passed in must work if you were to call IoCreateFile with it. So
long as that gets to the appropriate file system, it can be any name
(e.g., symbolic link, actual physical device, etc.)

Tony
