easy question about INF file

Hi,
I’m trying to make an INF file and I have a little question. In the
Version section, 3 Signature can be used: $Windows NT$, $Windows 95$ and
$Chicago$.

What is $Chicago$?. I always thought that Chicago was the code-name of
Windows 95…

I want my INF to be cross-platform, what Signature should I use? I guessed
it would be $Chicago$, but W2K doesn’t seem to like my INF, so maybe my
guess is wrong…

Thanks,
Michael

I believe the answer is $Chicago$, and the other answer is that Chicago was
on the road to Cairo, except we never actually got there, or maybe we are
there now with XP?

It was. .INF files pre-date Windows 2000.

Win2K doesn’t care WHICH value you use, as long as you use ONE of them.

If you have an INF file problem, try running it through chkinf (in the
DDK’s tools directory). VERY helpful in finding nasty lurking INF problems.

You’re right Chicago was the original code name for Windows 95. I still have
my “Chicago Beta Buddy” t-shirt sent to me by Microsoft during the early
beta of Windows 95.
