Hello !
Has anyone heard about DriverNetWorks ?
Is it good for writting IM-drivers, or better to use DDK-samples ?

Hi
The one big problem (maybe two), I have found… after checking out
drivernetworks and talking to the support staff is it only produces basic
template code and NO installation templates for installing it, which is a
big problem when first starting to write device drivers as complex as IM
drivers, especially under NDIS. Untill drivernetworks, covers some of these
issues I would stick with the DDK. If you are comfortable with writing
um’teen different inf files, the templates and its C++ support are ok…
Hope this helps
Steve

Hi
In some parts I agree with Steve. If you are talking about Win Nt your
rigth, but for W2K I have different experience. The Wizard for an IM
produces code and an INF-File as well. With only a few changes you have the
hole installation. The INF-FIle is mostly the same as the one of the DDK
passthru sample. Of cource there are same points witch DriverNetworks not
covers, IM driver with WAN support for example.
Numega tech support says:
If you like, you can extend DriverNetworks framework yourself to support
WAN. We currently don’t have plan to support WAN. It may be changed in the
future depends on market request.
But I cannot belive that there is no need on the market for the WAN support.
And to edit the numega code is not a good way to getting your goal. So I
baesed for my IM driver on the passthru sample and I had good experiences.
