Driver Signing for Windows

Hi All,

I have one virtual NIC driver. When I install this
driver using an INF, I am getting a “Digital Signature
Missing” warning. So I am planning for WHQL testing.
For that I downloaded the latest HCT and I have the
following questions.

1)I don’t have real hardware. Still I think I can
obtain Digital signature. Isn’t it?

2)While running HCT, it is asking to unplug/plug your
Network card. which bus interface etc… what I have to
put there?

3)Also the virtual card pass the traffic only when my
user mode application is running. While running HCT,
it will reboot my machine in between. After reboot HCT
will take control before my user mode application is
up and running. So how I can evaluate this conditions?

Please help me.
Thanks,
Suja

I’ll let somebody who knows something about WHQL answer those questions.

But have you considered “self-signing” the driver?

Peter,

That is one of those great Microsoft improvements that has only limited
utility. Specifically, sefl-signing only works on Windows Server 2003 and
“higher”. Not any help on desktop OS’s.

It would be wonderful if MS provided a service-pack update of QFE that added
the self-signing capability to at least the XP OS. If they did, then both
self-signing and Difx would probably gain wider acceptance.
