I wonder if there are some standard ways/tools for driver profiling. Currently I suspect my filter driver significantly drops performance of drive defragmentation, probably due to some mutex contention. Anyway, I’m unable bring this out due to lack of appropriate utilities/techniques.
Take a look at XPERF
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/performance/default.aspx and also
consider trying kernrate from the WDK. You need a good benchmark to
pound on your driver, but this should get you started.
