Does I/O mgr or FSD allow FILE_CREATE on shortname?

Hi all,

Just a quick question.

Does I/O mgr or FSD allow FILE_CREATE on shortname (as opposed to long
name)?
Thanks in advance.

FSD and IoMgr allow FILE_CREATE on name irrespective of whether passes
IsLegalDos8Dot3 check. If name does not pass this check then short name will
be genertaqed (unless short name generation is disabled) when file is
created. If name does pass this check then short name will not be generated.
It would have taken you about five minutes to discover this I think through
simple test programs

Sean

I should have mentioned in the previous post, I do apologize, the small
matter of the ‘tunnel cache’. If you havent already discovered this curious
beast then I am sure a search of this group will provide some good
information. There are also a few useful MS KB articles as I recall.

Good luck
Lyndon
