Hmm, lets see.
1.
2k is a shortcut for 2000. So the difference between 2000 and XP are
the former being a number and the latter being capital letters.

You could also install both systems to the same partition and then do
a ‘windiff \winnt \windows’ for yourself… ]:>

You rephrase your question to the list to be more precise. What
aspect of the OS would you like to be explained.

I hope you take route 3.

Hi Norbert,
I am sorry…I thought If had mailed such question in the ntdev list,it
would obviously mean from a Driver developer’s perspective.Anyhow, can you
please me the differences from a Driver developer’s perspective(portability
issues).

Thanks.

Sai Prasad

You didn’t get the point. Your question was very obvious. Is there
a list member out there that has a compilation of all changes
between W2K and XP? Oh boy, dream on.

I am not that genius to give an answer here.

From a driver developer point of view, only very little has changed, so
there is no need to talk much about the basics. When it comes to detail
in the one or other place there are changes (documented in the DDK).
What do you want to port. Does your W2K driver does not work under XP
( that would be strange…)? Without details about your problem you
will get no help(,at least not from me).

From a driver development view, there are very few differences. XP does have
some kernel functionality not available in 2000. Overall, 2000 drivers will
work on XP, but do not expect XP drivers to work on 2000. Both the 2000 and
XP DDKs are included in the DDK down load.
