Difference b/w Win2K & ME

Hi,

We observe that file system operations (read/write) on a removable media is
considerably slower in Windows 2K than in ME, for the same set of hardware.

  1. Is this expected?
  2. How can this be explained with regard to the storage architecture in
    each?

The filesystem used is FAT. The behaviour is consistent for both ATA & PCI
adapters.
