DFS bugcheck 0x82. Possibly a Microsoft bug with 2kSP4 Mup.sys

Hi,

I have a plain vanilla 2kSP4 box from which I am trying to access a
file on a DFS share. I also have my filter driver installed on the
client. In one particular code path, when my filter tries to normalise
the DFS path, the system bugchecks with bugcheck code 82.

I am trying to open the directory \device\windfs\root\test.com in this
case. The interesting thing is that opens on directories like
\device\windfs\root\test.com\sysvol\scripts had succeeded. This
probably is an issue with opening a directory at that level.

I have also seen some other oddities with this particular mup.sys. I
don’t have issues with 2003 or XP clients. One of the other 2kSP4
machines which has tons of hotfixes installed, also doesn’t have this
problem. This leads me to believe that it is a known Microsoft issue.
Does someone know the hotfix to solve this problem?

Thanks
