Device Installation Application

In the May Pre-Release version of the Windows 2000 DDK the chapter
“Writing a Device Installation Application” had an interesting paragraph
entitled “Checking for In-Progress Installations” which clearly stated “for
Windows 2000 and later”. I have just installed the October MSDN DDK (2000)
and this paragraph has gone. I infer from the header files, etc. that the
CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents stuff is XP specific, and was just put there
to confuse me.

As I have a problem with dual installs on Windows 2000 I would be glad of
any advice on the topic. Is it just a fact of life, or is there some way
to prevent double installs in Windows 2000? If there is a way, does it
have a Microsoft benison, or do I have to buck the system (again)?

Thanks,
Evan.
