Debuging

Hi

I am trying to write a FSFD. Currently my code is woring fine.

Question i have is is there a way to debug drivers? I mean to pin point
exact location if it crashed?

Are there any debuging tools available on net?

Thanks,

Regards,
VC

Take a look at
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/foundation/DrvDev_Intro.mspx. If you
are not using the checked build, driver verifier, CUV and WinDBG your code
is probably not working fine. Your code should also be clean with the
various static analysis tools, such as preFast and SDV from the WDK. You
should consider using /W4 and perhaps PC-Lint for further checking.

I thought SDV won’t work in filters? At least that’s what it said when I tried
DDK_VERIFIER_EXTENSIONS define.

Alfa File Protector - File protection and hiding library for Win32 developers.
Alfa File Monitor - File monitoring library for Win32 developers.

Well DDK_VERIFIER_EXTENSIONS is for CUV, which if it is a mini-filter you
are correct. Should have qualified but I dealing with an old style filter
right now, so wasn’t thinking clearly.
