Debugging mode with F8, but without COM port

Hi everybody,

If I need to debug a notebook that has no COM port, but has a firewire
built in.

Could I debug it without having BOOT.INI configured to? (Like pressing
F8 in boot time)

TIA,

If it is Vista the boot.ini is not an option. If it is an EFI system, then the boot.ini is also not an option. Otherwise, I know of no way to debug without the boot.ini changes and the first two require a configuration utility be run to add debug capabilities.

I don’t know whether the 1394 equivalent of a USB to serial converter
exists, but if they do, they probably won’t work either, as WinDbg
requires an actual UART.
