Crash Dump for Windows 98

Hi,

Is there any way so that we can do postmortem of kernel crashes on Windows
98 (i.e like we have crash dumps on Windos 2000).

Any information is helpful.

Thanks,
Kedar.

No. Windows 98 does almost no post-mortem handling after a crash. It
just halts. It also makes no effort to keep the swap file “pristine”
during the boot process so you can recover it later. If you need to
catch a Win98 crash, you need to be running wdeb98.

Of course, historically, Win9X crashed often enough that you didn’t have
to wait very log to reproduce the problem.

(That’s not fair. Win98 Second Edition was a very solid operating
system. Considering its roots, it was miraculously solid. WinME was a
considerable step down.)
