Members,
We’ve almost finished implementing a totally new search facility for the
NTDEV, NTFSD, and WINDBG. This goes part of the way to fulfilling the
commitement I made a week or two ago to make the lists more searchable, get
them indexed by Google, and create a FAQ.
We’re at the point where I’d like people to try out the search functionality
as we have it now and provide us some feedback. To do this, please go to
http://www.osronline.com and do searches from that page. Use the drop-down
box on the home-page to select what you want to search (the default is “This
Site” so you’ll need to select “NTDEV” for example to search this list),
enter a search term, and click the “go” button. (you may also leave the box
blank, select the list to search, and click GO. This results in you being
taken to a page where you can perform advanced searches)
Once you get to the results page, you can (optionally) click “Advanced” for
a whole set of new options. You can search within the results, change
result ordering, etc, etc, etc. Note that the search works properly for
terms that have underscores (such as FILE_SHARE_READ) and dots
(AssociatedIrp.SystemBuffer).
The present index is current as of 29 July at about noon.
Note: DO NOT use or provide us feedback on the search facility built into
Lyris. This is the same old lousy facility and will remain unchanged.
PLEASE send us your feedback on the new NTDEV search facility OFFLINE to
xxxxx@osr.com
Thanks,
Peter

[p.s. You should understand that this has taken a lot of work. SNoone has
been working on a process to transform the list postings into html format so
they can be indexed (by both us and Google) non-stop for about a week. The
work is all his, with a very small amount of help by Mark Cariddi and me.]
