Communicating with PC via serial port

Hi all people,

I build a dialpad with microcontroller to communicate with the PC to dial
phone number via the website, e.g. NetPhone, etc. Its function is similar
to the Keyboard but with less keys

The dialpad is connected to Com. 1 which is solely devoted for its
application without sharing with other device. It can communicate with the
Com. Port sending correct signal to a software, namely Term95, installed on
the PC running on Windows ME for its testing. But the website cannot
receive any signal input from the dialpad. Neither the Notepad nor Word
processing software can receive its signal.

Any guide has experience to configure the PC to suit my application please
shed me some light.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards
Stephen Liu
