Hi everyone,
I am trying to install Vista Beta2 Checked to my target computer. I have
same kind of problem than last time with XP Cheked (“Checked build
problem”). Computer bugchecks during the start of installation. Reason seems
to be acpi.sys and code is 0x0000007E. What should I do? Any hints? Computer
is 32-bit Mobile Pentium (and Vista version is x86).
Thanks, again!

0x7E followed by what? 0x80000003? That’s a breakpoint. You’ll need to do
the install with a debugger attached.

Hi Dan,
Debugger is attached but not connected when bugcheck happends. Bugcheck is:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000420, 0x81AE28A9, 0x81C0D560, 0x81C0D25C)

Hi Lyndon
Thank you, So if it is ASSERT in ACPI.sys-module debugger should be able to
continue loading/installation (with g-command)? If it is so then why my
debugger wont give me any data from target when BSOD happends?
I installed free-version of Vista and it went very well.

I recently tried installed w2k3 checked on a system and it asserted in early
setup in acpi.sys. I followed the procedure for early setup kernel
debugging, and could see the assert, and could continue from the assert and
make setup work. It turned out changing one of the BIOS settings for the
disk controller (like maybe PATA/SATA enabled) made the assert go away, and
w2k3 checked could then be installed with no debugger magic. I don’t offhand
remember which setting, but seem to remember “auto” failed and “both” worked
fine. I believe it was a very modern supermicro Intel motherboard.
I am trying to install Vista Beta2 Checked to my target computer. I have
same kind of problem than last time with XP Cheked (“Checked build
problem”). Computer bugchecks during the start of installation. Reason
seems
to be acpi.sys and code is 0x0000007E. What should I do? Any hints?
Computer
is 32-bit Mobile Pentium (and Vista version is x86).
Thanks Jan.
How to enable (early) installation debugging in Vista? There is no
TXTSETUP.SIF… How to catch this assert…
Jussi
PS. I just enabled first time debugging in free-version of Vista. Now it
takes 40 minutes to startup Vista…
