Hi,
Sorry i did not specify the error that i am getting.
I am getting the below message:
“The specified location does not contain information
about your driver”
When i checked the documentation for this error the
error might come either the driver is not build for
X84 or the inf file needs to be modified. I build the
bulkusb in Win 2000 check environment. So i am
assuming i need to make changes in the .inf file. but
where to modify. If anybody has the solution for the
above problem please mail me.

Hi,
For what device you are trying to install this driver?
Have you updated the device’s VenderID and DeviceID in the INF file?
As far as building is concern just run build command.
Hope this helps,
Dev

Hi,
The first question i did not get.
I am trying to install bulkusb.sys on windows 2000
system. I build in win2000 checked environment.
Regarding the changes the inf where to add those
entries. If you have a sample inf file that will be
great.

I want to work with USB thumb drive. If i install
bulkusb.sys will it work for USB thumb drive. it does
bulk read/write operation(if u have time can u expain
what is bulk read/write operations). i will add file
read operation in the filter driver(the sample that is

Understand it better…

Technically, yes. The USB Mass Storage Class uses bulk pipes to do its
transfers. However, as soon as you do that, bulkusb.sys will be THE
ONLY driver for the device, so it will no longer appear as a mass
storage device. To be a mass storage device, you need to have
usbstor.sys as the driver.
it does bulk read/write operation(if u have time can u expain
what is bulk read/write operations).
If you do not know this, then you should not be dinking with USB drivers
yet. Take some time to read, for example, Jan Axelson’s “USB
Complete”. It is important to have a basic understanding of USB before
attempting to write USB drivers.
i will add file read operation in the filter driver(the sample that is

Theoretically, that could be done, by installing an upper or lower
filter to USBStor.sys, but but it’s not as easy as you think. There is
a lot of communcation that goes back and forth to a USB mass storage
device, and you will have a hard time picking out which of those
communications are actually file data.
