Do you mean how to identify file system load and volume mounting events
from a driver?
If so, you should take a look at the Tfilter sample in Microsoft’s IFS
Kit. I believe there is a Windows 2000 version of the kit, which of course
would be the one.
New behaviour that might affect you here is that Windows 2000 does file
system demand loading . So (for example) if you don’t have a FAT partition
on a hard disk the FAT will not be present until a floppy is inserted.
Documentation? The only public source of information I know of is Rajeev
Nagar’s “File System Internals” book, and various posted answers to
questions in this area. The book is a very worthwhile purchase but contains
some errors and is not up to date. Specifically, it doesn’t answer your
question about Windows 2000.
