I seem to see that when an alternate data stream for a file say
c:\temp\hilly:place is open and at same time the file itself c:\temp\hilly
is open, these two end up using different fcb-s. I had - perhaps a propos
nothing - expected the two to use the same fcb since its a file and two
streams. Does anyone know if its right (or wrong) for there two different
fcb-s here? It’d be good to understand what is going on here. Thanks,
Lyndon.
Alternate streams do use different Fcbs. Think about how caching is
initialized and where the SOP’s are located. Alternate streams use two
different cache maps.

Hi Peter. Thanks. I understand that now. Kind regards, Lyndon.
FCB describes the on-disk data stream - so, 2 FCBs for 2 streams.

Are these technically called SCB’s? Does anyone know?
