A plea to avoid HTML

I’m sure this has been said before, but I want to plead with people to
use straight text in this newsgroup. HTML leads to tiny fonts in my news
viewer (NetScape, and I won’t change to Outlook because of the
heightened virus potential). Plus, my viewer often won’t quote HTML
messages, which makes it hard to supply context in an answer to a
question.

Last IE/Outlook Express patch has the checkbox of “disable HTML while
reading”. At last
It is only spoiled by the fact that, when you reply, HTML is shown
nevertheless :frowning:

Anyway HTML on this forum is irritating, Walter is correct.

You’re both right but the plea won’t help. There are people who don’t even
know they’re sending HTML mails. I guess the only way would be if listserv
bounces HTML messages. There was such a request in the past but PeterGV
refused it because it wasn’t prevailing opinion of list members. So we have
to live with it (I receive every such message as an attachment…).
