5484.4_WDK_B2

Anyone tried to install the beta of the above said product?

I downloaded the 2.5 GB monster twice, but don’t have a DVD burner, so I
instead tried to use virtual drive to emulate a DVD, insert the image and
install, but I always get the same errors “This installation package could
not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid
windows installer package” when I click on setup.exe.

The installer.exe is different, it launches, and i get the screen with MS
.NET Framework 2.0 installer enabled ( I haven’t installed that on this PC
before). and MS SQL desktop engine enabled.

All others are disabled. I have already got IFS 3790 instaleld on this
machine.

Even clickiing on the enabled buttons wont install anything, neither would
navigating into the folder of .net installer and trying to run it from there
work.

The DVD wont even extract from explorer.

any clues?

I know nothing about 5484 but if you mean 5384 WDK, I have it installed from the image mounted by MS virtual CD driver with no problem. Try to check image integrity, I guess it is possible to compute checksum (MD5?) and compare with correct one but I never tried it.

I had the same experience as Michal. I’ve installed into C:\WINDDK\5384;
side by side with the W2K3 SP1 IFS in C:\WINDDK\3790.1830.

I installed the ddk off of the winhec DVD and it installed without any
problems. It promptly broke some of my projects, but that is another story.

Maybe an idea : I expanded the complete iso image into a
subdirectory 5484.4_WDK_B2 with means of UltraISO and
did start the setup.exe from there . Everything ran fine.

Christiaan,

UltraISO was exactly what I was looking for. I had tried before with WinISO,
a similar product, however, it doesnt support DVDs, and also with Virtual
Drive to mount it.

But the Image properly extracts and installs with UltraISO.

Thanks for the cue.
