With regard to my previously posted problem regarding 1394 bus resets
on XP. First thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. I have done
some work on the problem and come up with a long term plan to solve
all these issues (it involves changes to the firmware on our device).
I also have some short term methods of coping but they are not ideal.
I have come to believe that the double bus reset problem (every reset
is followed by a second reset shortly after, defeating my efforts to set
the PC as the root node on the bus) is caused by the NIC1394 virtual
device stuff.
However, my method of determining this was rather rude and involved a
sacrificial system. I am fortunate in that our system generally only
runs on a dedicated PC.
Could someone please tell me what is the most elegant way of removing
this virtual device (disabling it does not seem to do the trick for
some reason)?
