X64 drivers for MS mouse

HI All,

Does anyone on this list know why MS is reluctant/late to provide x64
support for their mouse/keyboard (aka intellimouse/intellipoint) HW?

Cheers
Robin

What support aren’t you getting? My Intellimouse Explorer and Natural
Keyboard buttons all work as I expect them to with the inbox driver.
Granted, I don’t have a pretty GUI to change the button assignments.

The mouse and keyboard I have (wireless desktop elite) do work, but none
of the fancy extra buttons.
The Intellipoint/Intellitype apps won’t install on x64.

This is not really critical (like i.e. all the ‘old’ scanners and
printers and webcams… that don’t support x64),
but I do find it disturbing that MS of all companies doesn’t do
something about it.

Well, yeah, that would be annoying.

All my extra buttons work on my ancient Natural KB Pro (although I only use
one or two of them anyway), so I assumed all yours would, too.

Hope you figure it out…

Support for those extra buttons on your Natural KM Pro is built into the
OS (they are just a defined collection from the HID spec), some of the
newer buttons (like all the dual mode F-keys) require custom software.

From the HW folks:

x64 support will be provided in the version 5.5 releases of IntelliPoint
and IntelliType Pro software. Release of Microsoft IntelliType Pro 5.5
and IntelliPoint 5.5 software is anticipated to occur in January 2006.
