Windows 2000 vs Windows NT 4.0 DDK

I developed a kernel mode serial driver under Windows NT 4.0. I am now
in the process
of updating the driver. I have now installed Windows 2000 on my
development system. I
have a few questions.
a. Can I install both the Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000 DDK on the
same
computer?
b. Can I develop an NT4.0 driver with the Windows 2000 DDK?
c. What should I be aware of as potential changes to my NT 4.0
driver?

Yes.

Max

A. You can install Windows 2000 DDK and WinNT 4.0 DDK on the same machine.
The wind up in \ntddk and \ddk directories.
B. You can not develop a WinNT 4.0 driver with the NT 2000 DDK. It says so
on the Readme.html file on the root directory of the NT 2000 DDK Disk from
the MSDN.
C. I don’t know anything about serial drivers.

Yes.

The Windows 2000 DDK will co-exist with the NT 4.0 DDK.

The setup program will create two separate Program Manager Groups in your
Start Menu.

Just select the appropriate Command Window, just as you would with Checked
and/or Free.
