OSR USB device

I am looking for one of those USB learning kits.
https://www.amazon.com/stores/OSR/USBFX2LearningKit/page/C0D6C555-D018-4C05-9E39-8F9400DA0DDD
But they’ve been unavailable for quite a while now.

Are these planned to come available again at some point? And if not, is there anyone who has one they are no longer using and would be willing to sell theirs?

If not, there are literally hundreds of little USB experimenter’s kits that would be a great starting point.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind using a different device. But most seem to be USB devices for which the USB port is meant for programming the device with a dedicated application (to download the firmware etc) or that come with a DLL that does the communication.

Something like this seems ideal for experimenting with because I can hook it up to some LEDs and electronics on a breadboard.

except it comes with a dll to do things for you. I could use a USB bus viewer and reverse engineer some of the protocol but if it’s possible I would like to just get a spec sheet like the one the OSR kit came with.

Would you know of any kits that do come with the spec sheet?

We still BUILD them and provide them to students who attend our seminars. But I’m not sure we SELL them anymore.

Let me check.

OK… so, the answer is “YES, we still sell them” – The price is now US$150 plus actual shipping.

Please email seminars@osr.com and the team will hook you up.

Thank you Peter!

If you are open to general purpose board, I think the Cypress USB 3.0
Explorer Board is superb
buy.at less than US$50. They offer free tools and quite some examples.

There are also very cheap Cypress USB FX2LP boards out there but the
quality may vary.

Some other boards are mentioned in the following discussions.
