USB to SATA driver

Dear Community,

Probably most of you are aware of that Windows 7 will only boot from USB 2.0 (Assuming you installed Windows 7 on the USB Mass Storage Device with WindowsToGo, because normally the installer prevents the installation to an external storage).

However it won’t boot from USB 3.0 even with the above mentioned method. I’ve been googling for several days about how to overcome of this problem but unfortunately without success. I tried to add USB 3 drivers to the standard installer iso with dism tool, but that didn’t help.

My ultimate goal would be to boot Windows 7 from an USB Mass Storage Device. I wondered if a USB to SATA (bridge?) driver could be a solution for this problem, so if I know the VID & PID for my USB Mass Storage Device, the driver would hide the it from Windows, and it would show a normal internal SATA drive instead. And if it could be built into WinPE, then Windows 7 could even be installed in a normal way without the need of WindowsToGo.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is my driver theory correct?

Well… Win7 doesn’t have USB 3 support. So… not sure how this can ever work.
